Freedonia Group, Cleveland, OH, has released its newest report titled “Cosmeceuticals.” According to the report, demand for cosmeceutical products is expected to increase 9% per year to $5 billion in 2007, propelled by a stream of new and advanced product introductions offering age-defying and appearance enhancing benefits for an aging population. The value of chemicals used in these products is expected to advance over 10% per year to $1 billion in 2007, with gains spurred by the use of new higher value-added active ingredients in product formulations.

In other news, the company has also issued a new study titled “Plant-Derived Chemicals,” which examines trends in the market for plant-derived chemicals. According to the study, the demand for plant-derived chemicals in the U.S. is expected to advance 7% per year, including price increases, to $3 billion in 2006.
